What is a Mummy MOT?
A Mummy MOT is a specialist postnatal assessment designed to help your body recover after pregnancy and birth.
At The Malmesbury Clinic, your assessment is carried out by a trained practitioner who will look at how your body is recovering, whether you’ve had a vaginal birth or a caesarean section.
Pregnancy and childbirth can have a lasting impact on your pelvic floor, abdominal muscles, posture, strength and movement. A Mummy MOT provides an opportunity to understand what your body needs and identify any areas of weakness, tension, discomfort or imbalance.
Your assessment is tailored to you and may include personalised treatment, rehabilitation exercises and practical advice to support your recovery and help you feel confident in your body again.
A Mummy MOT can be carried out from around 6–8 weeks after birth, although it’s never too late to seek support. Many women choose to have an assessment months or even years after having their baby, particularly if they are still experiencing symptoms or finding certain activities uncomfortable.
At The Malmesbury Clinic, we take a supportive, individual approach, adapting your care to your symptoms, lifestyle and stage of recovery.

Our approach at The Malmesbury Clinic
We know that no two postnatal experiences are the same. Your recovery can be influenced by your pregnancy, birth, previous injuries, lifestyle and the demands of caring for a new baby.
That’s why your Mummy MOT at The Malmesbury Clinic is approached with care, understanding and without judgement. You’ll have time to talk through any concerns, discuss your symptoms and understand what may be contributing to them.
Depending on your individual needs, your care may include gentle hands-on treatment, rehabilitation exercises, movement advice and practical strategies to help you build strength and confidence.
Whether you’re newly postnatal or your baby is several years old, we’re here to help you understand your body, address ongoing concerns and feel more comfortable and confident in your movement.
